Nebraska Teen Says Trip To China For Stem Cell Treatment Was Worth The Pain, Discomfort

by Paul on August 11th, 2009

A Grand Island, Nebraska, teenager suffering from spinocerebellar ataxia type 7 endured a week of painful acupuncture therapy, as well as intravenous and spinal stem cell infusions, but swears he would go back to China for more. Both Nate Redman and his parents believe the treatment worked at least to some extent. A second trip for another round of procedures would definitely be worth it, and not because it was fun to travel. Ataxia is a progressive disease, and his symptoms have regressed somewhat since he came back home. But some improvements have persisted. “He has his good days and his bad days,” says Nate’s father.
