Menlo Park, Calif.-based Geron Corporation (GERN) said on February 27 that it has exercised warrants to purchase 1,875,000 shares of common stock at $8 a share for gross proceeds of $15 million.
The warrants were issued to institutional investors in connection with the December 2006 financing and would have expired February 28.
The company also issued to the investors new warrants to purchase 1,125,000 shares of common stock at a premium exercisable from June 2007.
The new warrants are substantially the same as the A Warrants issued in the December financing, the company said.
Geron is developing products based on three technologies, including cell-based therapies derived from human embryonic stem cells for applications in multiple chronic diseases.
